- Like I said before it is important to be informed before heading to the dealership
- Visit multiple websites and check the value of similar vehicles with the same mileage while monitoring e-commerce sites to follow your car model’s auction price
- Print all the information you find
Look For Promotions
- Offer on your trade-in can be affected by several factors, including current inventory and the likelihood the car will sell
Fix The Dings
- You want to make the car look as new as possible and if that means spending a little money to get those dings on the exterior touched up it might be worth it if that means you’ll get more money back for your trade-in.
Stage Your Car
- Just like selling your home, your vehicle should be as clean as you can get. Yes, dealers can tell if the vehicle’s performance is in good shape or not regardless of how clean it is but the better it looks could really go the extra mile when it comes to the offer price.
Have Receipts On-Hand
- Keeping records and receipts. If so, when the day arrives to finally trade your vehicle, you can show the dealer receipts for all the purchases and repair work done on the car. If the dealer questions the condition of a certain engine part or area of the car, you can backup your side with

That’s why Bennington Chevrolet has compiled a DIY guide to changing your own headlights so that drivers can avoid dangerous situations while out and about this December! Bennington Chevrolet’s Guide To Replacing A Headlight:
- Pop open your hood and use the provided prop stand or another sturdy object to keep it open.
- Remove the power connector from the back of the headlight. This may require a slight turn or jiggle to get it loose.
- Remove the dust cover from the back of the headlight. This also may require a small twist to get loose.
- Some cars have a clip that holds the bulb in place. Press down on this clip to release the light bulb.
- Grasp the housing of the bulb and pull it out. This step may require a little wiggling to get it loose. Do not pull the bulb by the glass or tug the bulb roughly. This could cause it to break and may result in injury.
- Holding the old bulb and new bulbs by their housings, compare to make sure they match.
- To guarantee your bulb is free of dust and fingerprints, gently wipe it with a pre-moistened alcohol wipe or rubbing alcohol on a dust-free cloth.
- Line up the bulb housing with the open socket and insert carefully. Make sure it’s secure.
- Slide the bulb back in place and twist if necessary to make sure it’s locked into its spot.
- Replace the clip (if you have one), dust cover, and power connector.
- Turn on your headlights to ensure the bulb and connection are working.
- Close the hood and give yourself a round of applause!

Bennington Chevy’s Guide To Storing Your Summer Tires:
Keep them clean.
- This is probably the best advice that you can receive when it comes to storing tires. During use, your tires accumulate brake dust, dirt, road grime, and all sorts of other nasty gunk which can cause tire damage if it sits on your tires for a long period of time (aka fall & winter months!) So, grab some soap, a tire brush, and a bucket of water and get to cleaning before storing these bad boys away for the winter. We recommend using an approved wheel cleaner, avoid using tire gloss or dressing, and allow your tires to completely dry before moving on to the next step.
Airtight is right.
- Once your tires are clean and properly dried, you want to place them into a large, dark, airtight plastic bag. Lawn and garden bags work perfectly or you can choose to purchase tire storing bags online. Your choice! Secure the bag with a zip tie or tape after removing as much air as possible. This will keep oil compounds from escaping.
Upright is important.
- Next, choose to store your tires upright and avoid stacking them if possible. If you keep your wheels mounted, you will want to stack them. If you choose not to use bags, store tires white to white and black to black. This will keep your tires clean!
Store your tires like a pro.
- Keeping your tires out of direct sunlight and away from ozone sources is a MUST. Intense heat can damage your tires. So keep out of direct sunlight (yes, even in the winter), away from electric motors, furnaces, or basement sump pumps. Tires like it cool and dry. So places like basements, climate-controlled garages or workshops are the best places to store your tires. Anywhere that is exposed to extreme temperatures cold or hot and wet, is a no-go. Not going to be using your vehicle for the winter? Well, it’s still important to move that vehicle to ensure that your tire’s rubber compounds are lubricated and supple. This will help relieve stress on the tires and keep them healthy!
